Delft Centre for Materials
Welcome to the Delft Centre for Materials
The Delft Centre for Materials (DCMat) considers 1 of the 13 research themes defined and implemented by the Executive Board of the Delft University of Technology in 2004. The research centres of the Delft University of Technology form an essential element of the university’s horizontal research organisation. The research centres are founded on the broad technological skills base existing in the different faculties and they are linked to the research portfolios of various departments of the TU Delft. The definition and the development of these research centres is meant to highlight and to strengthen the (inter)national profile of the research of the TU Delft.
The Delft Centre for Materials brings together the expertise of 23 chairs (in 6 different faculties) in the broad field of Materials Science at the TU Delft. DCMat is active on a wide range of material fields. DCMat aims at strengthening the cooperation of the different sections, the educational profile of materials science at the Delft University of Technology as well as rationalizing the use of research equipment. Besides a new joint research programme in the field of 'Self Healing Materials' is started and has become one of the core activities.
Subjects and activities of which you can find more information at this website are the following:
- Participating sections - data and information about the 23 research groups
- Self Healing Materials - information about the joint research programme of DCMat
- Young Wild Ideas - account on the programme to stimulate innovative and high risk research in the field of materials science
- Education - an overview of all materials related courses at TU Delft
- Infrastructure database - portal for research equipment at TU Delft
